For those with horses that crib, this is for you! I knew Zellie was a bit of a cribber when I bought her. I bought a Dare collar but noticed it doesn't help much as she doesn't curl her head like a "normal" cribber. She's under the care of amazing vets, turned out as much as she can be, has access to quality hay and has been put on the gastric-health supplement, Relyne GI. However, she still cribbed and cribbed hard. Zellie cribbed on her stall bars pulling the window jam away from the wall. She cribbed on the pasture gate. So much so that she opened it and got in with the neighboring field — TWICE. I had tried everything. Until I found this stuff – Sgt. Reckless’ Horse Grease. Ok, so hear me out. I know it has a funny name but this stuff seriously works! I’ve applied it to the metal bars and window in her stall as well as the pasture gate. She still wears her Dare collar but her cribbing is almost nonexistent! Sgt. Reckless’ Horse Grease is a specially-formatted gel that is designed to stop chewing. It caught my eye because the packaging specifically states metal, and Zellie only (that I've ever seen) cribs on metal surfaces. From their website: Sgt Reckless' Horse Grease is an all-natural, bad-tasting, specially thickened preparation that stops equines and other large animals from chewing on wood, hair, metal, rubber, etc. Odorless, non-toxic, non-flammable, non-combustible. Horse Grease is a natural, safe and effective way to stop equines from chewing on wood, bandages, trailers, trees, tails, and manes, etc. This stuff is serious! The website suggests applying with a small cup and a paint brush, but I applied with a glove. You will want to avoid touching your eyes, face or other parts after using. Wash your hands well! Ask me how I know that is some nasty stuff. What makes this product even better? A portion of proceeds is donated to the Marine Corps Association & Foundation. Sgt. Reckless's Horse Grease. Funny Name. Serious Results.
