Safely Getting Back in the Show Ring | Equestrian Face Covers

The COVID-19 pandemic has made our normal, daily lives much, much different. Add in horse showing which draws spectators not only for the day classes but also for larger money classes such as Welcomes, Grand Prixs and hunter derbies, and things change dynamically. US Equestrian has put out their COVID-19 protocols to keep everyone safe while returning back to what we love – horse showing. One of those protocols is that a face covering or mask is required while on the show grounds unless you are mounted. 

Fellow adult amateur hunter rider, Aly Howse, and her fiancé started Equestrian Face Covers providing personalized face coverings geared for the outdoor and equestrian lifestyle. ​

FACE MASKS AND THE EQUESTRIAN LIFESTYLE

I have a cotton over-the-ear face mask for my trips to the grocery store but those types of masks don't necessarily work with your hair up in a hairnet and a helmet. I've noticed face coverings becoming more of the norm due to their easy on-and-off nature as well as second use as sun protection on your neck and chest.

Equestrian Face Coverings specializes in creating customized face covers that are perfect for the equestrian lifestyle. They sought out fabric that would be light yet protective. Customers can customize the face covers with barn logos or an initials monogram. Names can also be added to the bottom of the face covers so there is no mix up. 

These face covers can be machine washed but should only be air dried to preserve the life of the logo or customization. Fun fact – you can also dunk the face covers in cold water and it’ll cool you down especially on hot summer show days. *Too much dunking can mess with the imrinting so don't get crazy!
