“I’m honored to partner with Southeast Medal Finals this year. It’s great Jacksonville hosts such an equestrian competition that highlights the year-long hard work put in by adult amateur equitation, hunter and jumper riders," said AdultAmmyStrong Founder Sarah Mahoney.

"This is what we are all about," said James Lala, SEMF Founder. "Juniors and Amateurs who go to school and work full time and can't show 24/7 to due to time and monetary constraints. We are THEIR finals!"

AdultAmmyStrong was launched in September 2015 based off the trials, tribulations and successes founder Sarah Mahoney had getting back in the saddle after a decade-long absence from the sport.

The purpose of AdultAmmyStrong is to connect and support the adult amateur equestrian community. Adult amateurs face many unique challenges balancing daily lives (jobs, families, grad school, etc.) with a passion for horses and riding.

“Juniors and professionals seem to get a lot of press due the popularity of their events - equitation finals, grand prixs, Rolex, professional rodeos, etc., but there isn’t much showcasing the adult amateur rider and I think it’s time to change that,” Mahoney stated. “We work just as hard with our horses to get to the level we ride and compete in, or just to ride at all, that it’s time to spotlight the amateur community for their strength and dedication to the sport.”

Adult amateurs drive a lot of the equestrian and competition industry and the goal to showcase the determination of the A/A and A/O community to increase awareness of just how exceptional the adult amateur really is.
“We are a wide-ranging community and each of us has something unique to share,” Mahoney added. “The more awareness I can bring, the more amateurs will find a similarity between themselves and others. I want them to know they aren’t alone in facing the challenges of riding vs ‘the real world’ and hopefully build supportive connections between one another.”
